Charlotte hikes nearly five miles every morning in Runyon Canyon, Hollywood. 2018.

Charlotte has her hair dyed blonde by a cosmetology student in West Hollywood. Always trying to save a buck and receive discounts, Charlotte would sit in the salon for up to seven hours as students experimented with her hair. The dye job was $35.

Charlotte, age 71. Charlotte was an old school LA hustler with a checkered past. She drove Uber up to 80 hours a week in order to pay the bills. She had three sons before the age of 18 and she supported her family by dancing in disco contests. When I met Charlotte at age 70, she was still living the fast life of someone a quarter of her age. Charlotte defied what it means to age in LA.
